Long weekend in June in Krakow. Where is the best place to eat?
Kraków has long ceased to be a city visited solely for its monuments. In recent years, the local gastronomy has changed significantly, and today food is one of the reasons many people plan a weekend in Kraków. There are original restaurants, excellent breakfast spots, natural wine bars, and concepts run by people who really know what they are doing.
And perhaps that's why the June break in Kraków tastes so good. The city in June is a bit more alive outdoors. Breakfasts stretch into noon, dinners smoothly transition into long evenings, and many of the best moments happen somewhere between a walk, a concert, and a spontaneous glass of wine enjoyed along the way.
So we have prepared a subjective selection of places we ourselves really like returning to. Not only the loudest ones but also more local addresses that well represent contemporary Kraków. A bit quieter, more mindful, and increasingly interesting gastronomically.
If, however, you are also looking for ideas on what to do during the June break in Kraków, concerts, exhibitions, and cultural events, take a look at our second guide: “June Break in Kraków 2026. How to really spend a long weekend in the city”.
Zaczyn – breakfast worth travelling to Salwator for
Zaczyn is one of those places that, more than trendy “Instagram gastro,” resembles the true rhythm of everyday Kraków. It all started here with a small, fully plant-based artisan bakery — a concept that was an absolute niche in Poland a few years ago. Today Zaczyn is no longer just bread but one of the most interesting breakfast spots in the city.
The new venue, refined interiors, and very original menu have quickly made the place one of the favorite addresses of Salwator residents — a district that has preserved a more local, quiet, and authentic character of Kraków. Here, you will more often meet native Kraków residents than tourists, and life moves a bit slower than around the Market Square or Kazimierz.
Among Salwator residents, Zaczyn is practically a cult place — especially when it turns out in the morning that there is no bread at home, but you also want to stay for a really good breakfast and a moment of peaceful morning.
On the shelves, there are still warm fruit sweet buns, fragrant wholemeal loaves, and delicate challahs, which many people buy immediately “for later.” The breakfast menu features more original proposals: sourdough bread toasts with almond ricotta or miso granola with plant-based yogurt, olive oil, and marzipan cream. The cuisine balances between comfort food and something truly creative — without excessive pretension.
Address: Salwator district, 27 Tadeusza Kościuszki St., Kraków

Królowa Przedmieścia – neighborhood coffee on the other side of the Vistula
Królowa Przedmieścia is one of those places that is hard to find by accident — and maybe that's why it has so much charm. Hidden in the quiet part of Dębniki, a few minutes' walk from the Vistula, it has become one of the favorite addresses for residents of this part of the city. It's a perfect excuse to slow down, take a walk along the boulevards, or go for a morning bike ride on the less touristy side of Kraków.
Królowa has a very neighborly character — one where you really get the impression that half the guests have known each other for years. The interior is casual, warm, and unforced, and everything revolves around good coffee, fresh baked goods, and simple but very refined food. It is more of a daily ritual for locals than a classic “trendy breakfast spot.”
Until 1:00 PM (2:00 PM on weekends), a short seasonal breakfast menu is available here, which is why people keep coming back. The menu balances between comfort food and modern urban cuisine — light, fresh, and very “Kraków-like” in its calm approach to food.

Bufet – comfort food in a well-designed interior
Bufet is a place that perfectly shows what comfort food looks like when prepared by truly outstanding chefs. And perhaps that's why from the moment it opened, it became one of Kraków’s most talked-about gastronomic addresses.
The concept is backed by Przemysław Klima — chef and co-owner of the two-star Bottiglieria 1881, and the head chef is his longtime associate Jakub Kojder. The result? Cuisine that on the one hand remains very homey and emotional, yet on the other has the precision, technique, and creativity of fine dining.
Bufet is located in Kazimierz, in a quieter part of Dajwór Street — slightly off the main tourist flow but exactly where gastronomic Kraków chooses to dine today. The interior is casual, without excessive elegance or pretension, because the most important thing here is the food. Food that gives pleasure from the first bite.
The menu is dominated by dishes inspired by childhood flavors and Polish cuisine but served with great finesse. An absolute must is dessert: the famous “Przemek Klima’s mom’s karpatka,” which changes seasonally and is served, among others, with rhubarb or raspberries. This kind of simplicity perfected makes Bufet memorable for a long time.
We wrote more about Bufet in our article, which you can find here.
If you plan to visit on a weekend or during the June break, it's worth considering a reservation — although a few spots for spontaneous guests are usually available.

Bar – Japanese vibe in contemporary Kazimierz
BAR Kraków is one of those addresses that best shows how much Kraków’s gastronomy has changed in recent years. Located at the corner of Augustiańska and Dietla streets, the venue became part of a highly successful revitalization of this part of Kazimierz — a place which just a few years ago was somewhat off the main culinary routes of the city.
Today, this part of Kraków is vibrant and increasingly attracts residents more than the Main Market Square itself. Great new gastronomic concepts have appeared here, such as Kropka, Ranny Ptaszek, or PORA — places with refined interiors, very contemporary cuisine, and an atmosphere that is more local than touristic. It's simply worth getting a little lost here and popping into a few places along the way.
BAR Kraków itself is a nod to Japanese izakaya — casual places for eating and drinking — but in a very original, urban interpretation. The menu is light, creative, and designed for sharing at the table. You can try, among other things, takoyaki — fried octopus balls, beef tartare with shiitake, bao with marinated oyster mushroom or slow-roasted pork belly, and the hugely popular sando sandwiches with fried chicken.
For greater hunger, ramen dishes work great — including vegan versions — and dishes from the Japanese hibachi grill. The whole is complemented by a very characteristic, energetic interior designed by NOWW Studio, which perfectly fits the vibe of contemporary Kazimierz: a bit raw, a bit designer, but still very casual.

Luktung – Bangkok in Kraków style
Luktung is one of those places that creates a very distinct atmosphere right from the entrance. The owners themselves describe it as “dark & moody” — and it is hard to find a better description. Dim lighting, crystal chandeliers, warm wood, and raw concrete create a space that resembles modern Bangkok restaurants more than a classic venue in Kraków’s center.
However, it is not the interior that makes the biggest impression here. Luktung’s kitchen is extremely authentic and definitely stands out on the Kraków gastronomic scene. It's hard to find another place in the city that approaches contemporary Thai cuisine as consciously and meticulously — without compromises or excessive “Europeanizing” of flavors.
The menu features Thai classics such as fresh soft-shell crab salad, tom kha, or aromatic rendang-style curry, but all served in a very modern and highly refined way. It is best to order dishes together and share them at the table — just like in Thailand.
Another great asset of the place is the service — very knowledgeable, professional, and well-versed in the menu. It’s one of those venues where you should really trust the waiters’ recommendations and let yourself be guided through flavors you may not have tried before.
The kitchen area remains partially open, so you can observe the chefs working almost live. You can see heated woks, quick kitchen moves, and flames appearing on pans periodically — sometimes becoming almost a small culinary spectacle.
Luktung is located right at the exit of Kładka Ojca Bernatka — in one of the most interesting parts of Kraków today. Around are many great spots for coffee, natural wine, cocktails, or dessert, so it’s worth spending a little more time here and allowing yourself a peaceful walk around the area.
After dinner, it’s best to cross Bernatek’s Footbridge to Rynek Podgórski, and then slowly walk to Bednarski Park — one of the most atmospheric parks in Kraków. Especially in the evening, this part of the city has something uniquely calm and local.

Hedwig’s – Kraków after dark in a more stylish edition
Hedwig’s is one of those places that best showcase contemporary, elegant, and very cosmopolitan Kraków. The bar hidden in a former chapel of an old monastery makes a huge impression from the very first entrance — high vaults, dim lighting, heavy curtains, and refined details create an atmosphere more reminiscent of a private club in London or Milan than a classic hotel cocktail bar.
In the evening, the place truly comes alive. This is where Kraków’s social elite meets — people connected to fashion, art, gastronomy, and business, as well as international guests who know well where to appear after dark. Outfits can be really impressive — perfectly tailored blazers, minimalist elegance, and fashion that would put Paris or Milan Fashion Week attendees to shame.
Hedwig’s has something very cinematic about it. On the one hand, it’s luxurious and refined, on the other — still quite casual and without excessive pretension. You can sit with a cocktail, watch people, or simply soak up the atmosphere of the place.
Late at night, the space acquires an even more nocturnal character — full of flirtations, meetings, and people looking for emotions, contacts, or simply a good time. It is definitely one of those places worth dropping by at least once during your stay in Kraków, even if just to see how nightlife looks in its most elegant version.

Pod Różą – Elegance of old Kraków
Pod Różą is one of those places that truly lets you feel the atmosphere of old Kraków — more elegant, calm, and immersed in history. The restaurant is located in the oldest hotel in the city, a few steps from the Main Market Square, in beautifully restored interiors where old stone walls, vaults, and historic details create an atmosphere hard to replicate.
The kitchen is led by Mateusz Szul, whose approach to cooking is based on great product sensitivity, minimalism, and elegance. The dishes do not try to be overly spectacular — everything here focuses on the quality of ingredients and very conscious building of flavors. The menu features seafood as well as local seasonal vegetables and classic products reinterpreted more contemporarily.
There is an à la carte menu as well as a tasting menu, but the real secret for the insiders is the weekday lunches — a great opportunity to try high-level cuisine in a much more relaxed format.
Wine also plays a huge role here. For years, the restaurant has been building one of the most interesting wine lists in Kraków, appreciated, among others, by "Wine Spectator," so dinner here naturally turns into a longer, calm evening.
