This is why staying in our apartments opens up a completely new way of discovering the city: not only through restaurants but also through local products and your own culinary experiences. Visiting Krakow’s markets naturally extends your stay and offers an opportunity to pick the highest quality ingredients, from fresh vegetables and fruits, through traditional Polish products, to flavors from various corners of the world.

It's worth stepping off the beaten tourist paths and looking where locals do their everyday shopping. Krakow’s marketplaces allow you to feel the real rhythm of the city – to talk to local artisans, taste seasonal products, and discover aromas that shape its daily culinary identity. Then you can return to your apartment and use what you have found to create simple or more creative meals, always on your own terms.

Stary Kleparz – a tradition dating back to the 14th century

Only a five-minute walk from the Main Market Square is Krakow’s oldest marketplace. For centuries, it has traded the best local goods: fresh vegetables, fruits, cheeses, cold cuts, bread, as well as exotic spices and products from around the world. Stary Kleparz is a place where you can taste many delicacies before they hit your plate, and the market atmosphere still recalls the old days of urban trade.

It is here, selected weekends throughout almost the entire year, that the Art & Food Bazar takes place. A unique culinary event born from a love of Mediterranean markets. In spring and summer, the place buzzes even more with life. It is an ideal opportunity to meet local designers and artists, but above all producers of organic food who cook with true passion.

At the stalls, you will find treats from various parts of the world, including regular highlights: fresh seafood, oysters, and organic prosecco. The atmosphere encourages leisurely strolls between booths; you can go there solo, bring your family, and even your pet, and simply enjoy the attractions.

It is also a perfect moment to stock up on high-quality products from reliable sources. Then… take them back to your apartment and prepare your own meal exactly as you like. The fully equipped kitchen gives you freedom – you can recreate the flavors you have just discovered or create something entirely your own.

Check the current dates of the upcoming editions on the Art & Food Bazar Facebook profile before planning your visit.

Nowy Kleparz – a hundred years of tradition in a modern edition

Near Stary Kleparz, at the end of Długa Street, is Nowy Kleparz. It flourished in the 20th century when the rural surroundings turned into a city. Today, it is a modern marketplace where, besides fresh fruits and vegetables, you can find bread, flowers, wicker products, and small everyday items. The most colorful part of the square around the chapel with the statue of the Immaculate Conception is the heart of local tradition, where traders and buyers create a unique atmosphere.

Plac Imbramowski – tradition and quality in one

Relocated from the Nowy Kleparz area, Plac Imbramowski offers fresh products straight from the field – fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat, and bread. It is a place where regular customers meet their favorite suppliers, engaging in friendly conversations and enjoying the unique atmosphere of a traditional market.

Plac przy Hali Targowej – taste and treasure hunting

At Grzegórzecka Street, the marketplace has two faces. During the week, fresh food and everyday items dominate, while on Sundays it attracts lovers of books, antiques, and unique objects from all over the world. If you decide to visit the Hala Targowa, you must try the legendary sausages from the "blue Nysa" – a culinary attraction operating here since 1991.

Plac Nowy - the heart of Kazimierz

Plac Nowy is a marketplace where, depending on the day, you can buy vegetables and fruits, try zapiekanki (baked sandwiches), or visit a flea market full of antiques and curiosities.

On Sunday mornings, the place takes on a completely different character – true vintage gems appear, including unique clothes that are hard to find in stores. However, it’s worth hurrying as the most interesting things disappear really quickly.

After such a hunt, it's good to slow down for a moment and visit one of the nearby cafés. For breakfast or a relaxing coffee, places around the synagogue such as Megiddo Cafe, Alchemia, or Les Couleurs Café work perfectly.

In the evening the square changes once again. Known as the "Okrąglak," it attracts with the aromas of iconic zapiekanki and the energy of Kazimierz at night. It’s also worth going inside Okrąglak where you will find photos showing how this place looked in the past. It is a small fragment of Krakow's history that still lives here every day.

Near Plac Nowy are several of our Tyzenhauz apartments, from which you can reach here literally in a few minutes, so if this place interests you, it’s worth choosing one of them.

Plac na Stawach – a new version of the market square

Plac na Stawach, one of the younger places on Krakow’s map, combines organic markets with traditional trade in food products, pet supplies, and small everyday items, maintaining a cozy, friendly atmosphere.

Here you can buy fresh vegetables directly from local farmers, pick high-quality meats and products that immediately inspire cooking. You can taste homemade cakes from Wilk bakery, the kind of cakes that remind you of Sunday at grandma’s.

You will also meet highlanders on site who come with their regional products – cold cuts, cheeses including oscypek cheese scented with mountains and tradition. And if you fancy something more Mediterranean, you can visit Greek delicatessens and take olives with you that will transport your thoughts to the sea.

Then you can complete your shopping by dropping by the Zaczyn bakery, where you’ll find warm, crispy bread that pairs perfectly with what you just found at the market. Or visit the 100 Bochenków bakery where the scent of fresh bread and pizza is really worth trying.

And here lies the magic of this place. You can leave with a few simple products and come back inspired with a meal idea that you can calmly prepare later in your apartment.

Additionally, Mlaskoty takes place at Plac na Stawach – a recurring event that clearly shows the direction of Krakow’s gastronomic scene development. Instead of random street food, here you find a thoughtful selection of concepts, an original approach to food, and a relaxed, effortless atmosphere.

For visitors to Krakow, it’s a very convenient entry point into the local vibe. In one place, you can try various flavors, see what the city “lives from the inside,” and spend time as locals do.

Mlaskoty is not only about food but the whole experience: meetings, music, movement, and the energy of the place. For one day, Plac na Stawach transforms into a lively urban space. From the beginning, their strength has been the simplicity of assumptions: quality over quantity, an original approach instead of repetition, and an atmosphere that feels more like a neighborhood gathering than a classic food festival. This direction is the most visible today. Mlaskoty do not try to be “for everyone” – they are a conscious selection attracting those who seek something more refined and authentic.

If you care about going beyond the most obvious routes and feeling the more local side of the city during your stay in Krakow, this is one of those events definitely worth keeping on your radar.

Another advantage is that the Tyzenhauz apartments on Kościuszki Street are very close to Plac na Stawach, making it an ideal base to visit this place unhurriedly and fully enjoy its atmosphere.

It is also a great opportunity to do more than just shopping. Everything you buy at the market or during Mlaskoty can later be easily used in the apartment to turn into your own meal. Our kitchens are fully equipped; you will find an oven, pots, cutlery, and all necessary accessories, allowing you to prepare both a simple dinner for yourself or a larger feast for the people you travel with.

Targ Pietruszkowy – naturally and locally

On the right bank of the Vistula River, in Podgórze, operates Targ Pietruszkowy. This place was born out of the need of local producers who offer fresh organic products and traditional foodstuffs made without artificial additives. From vegetables and fruits, through homemade bread, cheeses, cold cuts, fish, to aromatic herbs, oils, and wines – everything here is top quality.

A must-visit for Tyzenhauz guests

Before or after sightseeing museums and monuments, it’s worth visiting Krakow’s markets. You can buy fresh products, try local specialties, and gather inspiration to prepare your own meals in Tyzenhauz apartments. It’s an experience that combines culinary pleasure with authentic discovery of Krakow.
